Is the cheaper thing the right thing?

Have you noticed a trend lately? Or better yet a new movement? The term sustainability in the fashion industry has been getting a lot of attention for many reasons? Fast fashion has had many effects on our Earth both on nature and humans. Fast fashion in summary is clothing articles made cheaply to keep up with constant trends. Items are made with cheap fabrics or materials with the idea of a short life so consumers buy more. This means that all those garments end up in landfills and can take up to 200 years to decompose! There is also the dilemma of sweatshops. Where people work in horrible working conditions with little pay. So if cheap things are bad what should we do? Sometimes buying a good quality garment or item is worth it. In fashion, you do not have to get brand names to be sustainable. There are many small businesses that make items from sustainable materials such as cotton, hemp, linen. You can buy a good quality jacket that can last you years and maybe your whole life that can be passed down to others. Not only are we helping the plant by not throwing out garments that damage the soil but we end sweatshops.
